Your son is very lucky to have you for a dad! Believe me, as he gets older, he'll realize who the good parent is. That's how it was with my kids when me and their dad divorced...except it was me who was the good parent Smile

Just keep doing the right thing, all of ya. My boys are older now, and their dad was the king of "oh sorry I forgot about that we can do it another time" - if he even bothered to show up. Now - they call Mom when they are happy, sad, worried, elated, etc etc. I get to be there for them when they need help and enjoy them when they're happy and successful because they trust me. They even moved in with him around a month or so ago (they are 20 and 22) and he still is like that. Forgets that he's supposed to help them with their car, meet them for lunch, whatever. They come to my house to hang out, then go sleep there. This was his big chance to mend fences - and he's blowing it.

Kids need to know that you are there for them unconditionally, and that you will answer your phone at 3am and come get them, leave work when they call at 2pm and they've just got hit by a drunk driver in the middle of the afternoon, and when they call at midnight on a worknight when their girlfriend dumps them for some loser who has a faster car but is an a**. I even get those calls from THEIR ex-GFs! Be there for your kids. Screw the parent that can't figure it out. Kids rock - and they need you more than you know.

And yeah - I know - I said "blowing"..heh heh heh....
