yeah having a baby kinda ruined that idea , but it was worth it at least for me.
Re: the promised land
my favorite things about IN that arent typically on most forums...
hot ink.. being filtered by a mod so no scratches show up prevents it from being a shitshow.. and i do like the rating system too, makes it easier to go down a list of 200 pics and know which ones to look at first. and i just like how competitive it makes it. makes me strive harder to get bigger numbers. and who cares if ppl get butthurt? its part of life. AND the way that the busiest posts are on the right of the screen in the forums menu is tits. awesome for when i have a half hour between appointments to check out as much as i can and stay in the loop. and the rate my art kicks ass too.
pics on profile. cool to be able to leave messages on each pic, cool to have a comment section on each profile page, cool to have the albums seperate from the profile pics. cool to have the blog.... cool to be able to put music on your page too.
the upload pic button on every post. i understand the on-site pic hosting goes through lots of bandwidth, but going to photobucket, uploading, copying, going back here, pasting.. kinda blows. it was one of the first things i noticed at IN that i was impressed with. and there is space available for next to nothing that will host 5+ TB of pic space.
the artist and studio search (when you didnt have to pay for it) was awesome. especially whenever i was going to be somewhere for a week or so and wanted to find a quick guest spot, really convenient.
the groups are cool. i liked the pro equipment discussion group.
the thing that set IN apart from other forums is how myspace-ish it is, and no matter how gay that may be, its the format people are comfortable with nowadays.
the things that bring enthusiasts and randoms to IN...
free flash.. even though most of it was absolute trash, any customer i told about IN went straight to the free flash.
babes.. everyone likes pussy. even chicks.
rate my pic men n women. not my favorite areas of the site, but people seem to enjoy them.
thanks for doin what you're doin. i will once again have a place to dick around while im bored at work and when i come home drunk!

Re: the promised land
-Photo Albums in user's profile
-Blog capability
-Option for anonymous posting of tattoos/artwork- I mention this because we've all seen how the popular forumites tend to get praised for anything they do, having the option of posting their work anonymously would give them a chance to hear what people really think.
-Articles, like a sort of online magazine. Convetion coverage, tech reviews for the pro-only section, etc. Maybe some articles written by real, old-school tattooers talking about how things were in their younger days, how they feel about the changes that have happened, and where they think tattooing will go in the future. Much like the interviews in Skin&Ink or the interviews Jonathan Shaw did with old tattooers in the 90's.
-Less emphasis on tits and ass, more emphasis on tattoos. I see no problem with nudity but when it becomes more what the site is really about than tattoos, that's a problem.
-Less support of shows like Miami Ink, LA Ink, Some Guy In A Motorhome Ink, Buttmonkey Ink, America's Next Top Tattoo Asshole, etc etc. These shows do nothing to promote tattooing, they only promote individuals. They should be shunned. They are making a mockery of something sacred.
-Fundraisers for injured or otherwise needy tattooers, other websites have successfully pulled together to offer financial support to tattooers who encountered unexpected surgeries and stuff like that.
-Contests. With prizes. Not necessarily cash prizes, but stuff like art, t-shirts and so on.

You're probably right... I'm lucky enough to mostly post on a really small forum where trolling isn't an issue at all. I didn't even think of that.
Re: the promised land
Don't know if its been posted yet, but a music forum where us gig meisters can shoot the shit about cool happenings on the local scene, festivals or whatever. Tattoos and music, best combo ever. Yeah I left women out of that equation because we get to see all the beautiful ones here in the threads posting and what not.
Admin and Tony thanks for the site dudes. I await the promised land. . I'm off to work.

ill make you a deal . ill do the forum but im not hosting any music and im not having music play on the profile pages
its too much money in bandwidth for something thats pretty much a gimmick. besides im sure other sites specialise in doing this.
im keeping this free forever so i need to keep an eye on the bandwidth before it becomes a financial disaster.
but the forum is yours

Re: the promised land
I think really what would be awesome...a cross between BME and IN (IN with all the cool shit that was supposed to be there years ago)
I would gladly give over 10 a month or even a yearly membership for like a premium account, In fact if you guys need some grip to help with any of this gimmie a shout

Re: the promised land
Eh, BME is kind of dumb, in my opinion.... The only reason I have an account there is because I got a lifetime subscription from being modblogged. The problem with most of the forums I've found there that relate to tattoos or piercings or modifications is that people are all snotty and assholes.maximalion wrote:I think really what would be awesome...a cross between BME and IN (IN with all the cool shit that was supposed to be there years ago)

I've been on that site for like three or four years, and have found like four people that I actually like to talk to. I post in like two forums, and just lurk the rest.

As long as the integrity is there, I'm pretty sure you know what I mean, I would gladly pay for ad space.
I would have at I/N if it wasn't full of crap supply ads, scratchers, and they didn't have such shady buis practices etc.

Re: the promised land
I learned really quickly how to tune out adds on sites like myspace, inkednation, facebook, etc. Like, I literally just DO NOT see the advertisements.dankbuilt wrote:

It's like working in the mall during Christmas season; you just don't hear the music after a week or so.
I noticed when the adds started going on IN that half of them looked like a bunch of bull shit, so I just stopped looking.
